Often times CREATING the actual design is not the most time consuming - it’s laying it out & figuring out what the hell you’re going to do.

Selling Shirts at Retail Chains

You may think getting your brand in a retail store equals instant success, and money in the bank. Actually, it may be more of a hassle (http://www.t-shirtforums.com/offline-retail-tradeshows/t128527.html).

At times it seems like it would take away from the joy of printing or creating shirt designs in the first place. The joy of sharing your designs, meeting people happy to wear your designs, and fraternizing with fellow shirt designers. Going to shows/summits is a lot of fun, and you get to be in touch with the people who support you, meet them face-to-face. Moving into stores I think takes the love out of it versus the face-to-face interaction you get attending shows, or running your own shop.

I know I’m kick-ass at what I do, because I have the best advertisement - - word of mouth. How about you?

Good Desktop Capture Products

Camtasia is great, but if you buy out-right it’ll cost you a good $300. I stumbled across this new one that is free made by TechSmith who makes Camtasia called Jing. I tried it out and it works great. Only problem, unlike Camtasia, it doesn’t have a platform for you to edit your recordings, so you would have to do that using another software, or record with no error. I like Camtasia, it is definitely my fav and worth purchasing. It is good for making training videos, but even more importantly when I work on different pieces I can record it. That way I can watch the recording back latter to remember different ways I used the tools in Photoshop, Illustrator, or whatever. Like My own personal Video Knowledge Base. It also serves well for people who make music to be able to look back and remember how they created a track for future projects.

Something I’m working on for the week. Have no idea what it is going to turn into. Just playing around with a paintbrush in Illustrator, add some more to it tomorrow, see what happens.

So I’m playing around with some templates for my portfolio site. I came across this one, and loaded up some of my images to see what it would look like…It looks like it is giving the world the finger LOL.

LOL my famous cereal box I created with the illusive, mystical Bear Cat HAHA. Yea I pictured a bear and a cat, and this little guy was born. This project was fun, it was my first cereal box, I plan to re-do it at some point just to add a real bowl of cereal to it.

This one I did real quick at work one day of a friend goofing of at work. She had kidnapped my phone and started taking pics with it, so I turned it into this. I used the masking tool to cut out the background of the work place. I applied a stroke to the subject in the image, then made some splatters, and changed the opacity of some layers.
